Robin Day designed the world's first polypropylene chair in 1963 for British furniture company, Hille. The combination of strength, affordability and sheer good looks has been hard to match; its pioneering design represented a breakthrough in furniture technology and has sold in tens of millions worldwide. Launched in 1967 following the dramatic success of the original Polypropylene Side Chair, the Polypropylene Armchair will lend its sleek profile and practical design to all manner of interior settings. The sculpted rolled edges ensure that fixings are kept out of sight from the front view, while a generously wide seat with built in arms makes it an incredibly comfortable option. Endorsed by the Robin and Lucienne Day Foundation and made in Britain by a skilled and dedicated workforce at the Hille factory in South Wales, this design classic in white and chrome appeared around the very kitchen table of Robin & Lucienne. Its appealing shape and sleek steel legs offer the perfect balance of smart aesthetics and durable comfort. Please note: not all our ranges are on display in our shops.
