Thinking of swapping sugar to a healthier alternative. Anyone tried this? What's the amount equivalent to 1 tbs sugar?

You could also look at Maple syrup, which has a relatively low glycaemic index, so it does not enter your blood stream too fast (causing a sugar spike and a release of insulin) or a brand called Sweet Freedom which makes fruit-based syrups that are, well, less syrup-y than actual syrup.
